Tasting notes

Intense, deep ruby red with garnet reflections. Extraordinarily complex nose of black cherry, plum, and blackberry jam with layers of dark chocolate, leather, and toasted coffee. Rich notes of black pepper, cinnamon, juniper berries, and cloves emerge with a refreshing balsamic end. The palate is powerful and full-bodied yet remarkably elegant, with concentrated dried fruit flavours supported by firm, polished tannins and a lovely freshness. Remarkably long finish with notes of liquorice, tobacco, and sweet spice.

Serving temperature

Serve at 16-18 °C

Food pairings

Braised beef cheeks with red wine reduction, slow-roasted venison with juniper berries, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano with balsamic vinegar, dark chocolate fondant with cherry compote, grilled porterhouse steak with rosemary butter

Awards & recognition

Pieropan Amarone Della Valpolicella Docg Riserva is a finely balanced wine defined by concentrated fruit, peppery nuance and a long, tapered finish.

Fermentation is managed for purity and texture, with a careful maturation phase that integrates the components and highlights the wine's savoury edge. The wine's character is shaped by traditional appassimento, where grapes are partially dried before fermentation to concentrate flavour and texture. Wherever possible, vineyard work is guided by sustainable principles, with attention to soil vitality, biodiversity and careful farming decisions that support long-term vineyard health.

Driven by a commitment to craftsmanship, the winery's work centres on thoughtful viticulture and patient maturation, producing wines that earn attention for their poise and personality. (Pieropan).
