Raventós Blanc de Blancs is a Cava of a pale lemon yellow color with glittering golden highlights and a mousse of very fine bubbles. It has an attractive fruity nose, fairly intense with white stone fruit, hints of citrus blossom and some tropical nuances, combined with very slight toasted hints on a background of fresh grass. Two words best describe the taste of this wine: freshness and zip. There is perfect balance between the light frothy fruitiness and the more serious very slightly buttery notes from the bottle ageing. It is a serious wine yet utterly charming.
The estate consists of 44 parcels (managed separately) representing about 300 hectares of vines planted mainly with native varieties such as Macabeu, Xarel-lo and Parellada. The soils, the deep Galera, consist of different layers of marine fossil sediments embedded in clay and silt with a limestone base. The climate is typically Mediterranean with mild winters and hot and dry summers, whose temperature fluctuations are tempered by the proximity of the sea. The annual production is about 800,000 bottles. The vine is cultivated biodynamically.
