Barbadillo Principe Amontillado VORS 30 Years, in its own gift box, is a rare sherry drawn from some of Bodegas Barbadillo's oldest soleras in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

It begins life as a Manzanilla, ageing under a veil of flor for about eight years, before a second fortification pushes it into a long oxidative maturation that, in this VORS bottling, spans well over three decades in the historic El Potro bodega.

Barbadillo's centenary criaderas and soleras rely on careful, hands-on stewardship rather than shortcuts, with wines topped up and blended by hand across generations to preserve their character.

Founded in 1821 by Benigno Barbadillo, this remains the largest and one of the oldest family-owned producers in Sanlúcar, now guided by its seventh generation and still keeping vast reserves of century-old stock in its cathedral-like cellars.

Wine details

22% ABV - 375 ml - Jerez-Xérés-Sherry DO

Sustainability

Barbadillo maintains one of Sanlúcar's oldest active solera systems in historic bodegas naturally ventilated by the Atlantic poniente wind — a centuries-old method requiring no artificial temperature control that has operated continuously for over a century.

Tasting notes

Mahogany-amber with intense aromas of toasted almonds, dried figs, toffee, and hazelnut — hallmarks of 30 years of oxidative ageing. Bone-dry and saline on the palate, reflecting Sanlúcar's unique Atlantic-influenced microclimate. Layers of roasted nuts, dried fruit, and subtle tobacco build to a finish of exceptional length and warmth. A category apart.

Serving temperature

Serve at 12-14 °C

Food pairings

Toasted almonds, jamón ibérico, aged Manchego, salted anchovies; Asian pairings: Japanese yakitori, miso-glazed black cod, salted egg custard bao, aged Chinese Jinhua ham
