Tasting notes

Deep dark ruby with garnet edges. Intense, perfumed nose of black cherry, crushed violets, and gravel with evolving notes of leather, tobacco, and dark spice. The palate is powerful and concentrated, with layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and balsamic nuances supported by firm, gritty tannins and a taut minerality. Full-bodied and complex, with an extraordinarily long finish of liquorice, tar, and dried rose petals suggesting decades of ageing potential.

Serving temperature

Serve at 16-18 °C

Food pairings

Wild boar ragu with pappardelle, roasted rack of venison with blackcurrant sauce, truffle risotto with aged Parmesan, braised short ribs with polenta, mature Raschera cheese with mostarda

Awards & recognition

Rated 93 points by Vinous Antonio Galloni - 'Another heady, expressive wine with notes of gravel, spice, leather, and tobacco'
