Celler Kripta Cava Gran Reserva Barrica is a single-varietal Macabeo cava that trades everyday fizz for something layered and food-worthy, sourced from a single old vineyard planted in 1964.

About 40% of the harvest ferments and rests in French oak for several months, adding creamy, biscuity depth, while the rest ferments cool in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh. Once blended and bottled, the cava undergoes its second fermentation and matures on its lees in underground cellars for four to five years, emerging as a Brut Nature with no added dosage.

The Pla dels Fidels vineyard is certified organic, and the wine is made without animal-derived fining agents, making it a vegan-friendly choice.

Behind the label is Celler Kripta, formerly Agustí Torelló Mata, founded in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia by a winemaker who started at just thirteen and helped shape the modern Cava industry. Now guided by his third generation, the house stays committed to native Catalan grapes, old vines, and marking every bottle with its exact disgorgement date.

Tasting notes

A barrel-fermented Cava Gran Reserva with a light straw colour and fine, persistent bubbles. Intense green apple aromas mingle with delicate balsamic, toasted and spiced notes drawn from French oak ageing. The palate is dry and richly flavoured, framed by a dense, creamy mousse and a lingering toasted, vanilla-tinged finish. Long lees ageing of at least 30 months lends structure and complexity, while the freshness of the Macabeo fruit keeps the wine vibrant and food-friendly throughout.

Serving temperature

Serve at 6-8 °C
