Wine details

14% ABV - 750 ml - Mount Bargylus, Lattakia, Syria

Sustainability

Organic farming practices on Syria's only private wine estate at 900 metres elevation, cereal crops planted between vine rows to improve soil aeration and organic matter, high-density planting with strict yield restriction, and resilient viticulture maintained through conflict since 2003

Tasting notes

Deep ruby red with purple reflections. Aromatic and inviting nose of ripe black plum, blackberry, and white pepper with fresh fruit intensity and subtle mineral undertones. Medium to full-bodied palate with bold, concentrated dark fruit flavours and a generous structure. The 6 to 8 months of oak ageing contribute soft tannins and gentle spice complexity. Good balance between the Cabernet Sauvignon's structure and the Syrah's aromatic generosity. Fresh and persistent finish with lingering dark berry and peppery character.

Serving temperature

Serve at 15-17 °C

Food pairings

Chargrilled lamb kofta with yogurt, roasted beef with root vegetables, aged Manchego cheese, slow-braised lamb stew with herbs; Asian pairings: Lebanese lamb shawarma with tahini, Moroccan lamb tagine with apricots, Indian lamb biryani with saffron, Turkish iskender kebab
